Dear Valued Customer,

As the U.S. East Coast continues to deal with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, our thoughts are with the people of New York, New Jersey and other hard-hit areas, many of whom remain without power and may be facing the loss of family, friends, homes and possessions.

The Equinix Operations staff has been working under extreme conditions to keep our data centers operational and minimize service impact to your equipment and services. Given that the New York and New Jersey area remains a very challenging environment, I wanted to provide you with an update on our data centers that have been impacted by the storm.

  • All of our New York and New Jersey data centers are now accessible to customers. Three of our eight sites in New York and New Jersey are back on utility power and operating normally. And all of our sites in Philadelphia and the Washington, D.C. area are operating normally on utility power.
  • Five data centers in the New York/New Jersey region remain on generator power. These sites are all stable and customers are receiving service as usual. Currently, all of these sites have ample fuel onsite, and we are receiving daily deliveries of fuel until utility power is restored.
  • Finally, we are communicating with the utilities regularly and discussions with both companies have indicated that they expect to have utility restored to our New York and New Jersey sites over the weekend.

If you have a deployment at an impacted data center, you should be receiving IBX Advisories from the Equinix Operations Center staff to alert you to any incidents or issues.
