Setting a Trend in Data Center Excellence

They say that once could be luck, and twice might be co-incidence. But, three times – that’s a trend!

That makes Equinix a genuine trendsetter, winning three independent Asia Pacific data center excellence awards within the first half of 2016 – some of them for the second time in a row!

No.1 again

That was certainly the case at the Telecom Asia Awards, where Equinix was once again recognized as the No.1 player in the Data Center Hosting & Colocation category after winning it the year before.

The awards coincided with Questex’s Telco Strategies conference, which was focused on “digital transformation”. As the world’s largest interconnection and data center provider, Equinix fits right in the middle of this global shift to the “digital economy.”

By enabling enterprises to directly and securely connect employees, partners and customers to what they need, we help them to adapt to and leverage digital ecosystems, so they are perfectly positioned to unlock new opportunities and drive business growth.

That is precisely the kind of innovation and performance that the Telecom.

Asia awards are designed to recognize and reward. And, with any luck, and a continuous commitment to excellence and innovation, we will have the opportunity to celebrate winning again in the future.

Two’s company

The NetworkWorld Asia Information Management Awards have carved out a reputation as Asia’s IT Oscars. Accordingly, it was particularly satisfying for Equinix to be awarded the title of Best Data Center Services company for 2016.

Designed to recognize Asia’s leaders in information security, storage and data management, the NWA Information Management Awards showcase the huge advances organizations have made in these fields over the last few years. They are also the only regional Editors’ and CIOs’ Choice Awards program for this exciting market.

Third time’s a grace

We were thrilled to add recognition as Best Data Center Services company to the Telecom Asia Award. But there was still more to come.

Most recently, Equinix was the recipient of Frost & Sullivan’s Asia Pacific Data Center Service Provider of the Year award for 2016.

As always, the award selection was decided by a distinguished panel of judges, made up of senior executives from the industry – CIOs/ CTOs and Frost & Sullivan analysts. Their decision was based on key criteria, such as revenue size and growth, footprint, initiatives and achievement as well as competitive strengths.

Making our own luck

All of this recognition hasn’t come out of the blue. It builds on the significant global growth that Equinix experienced in 2015, which saw the company grow its footprint with an additional five new data centers in key economic centers including Singapore and Melbourne.

Then, in March we announced plans to invest more than US$4.5 billion in acquisitions and organic global growth. This included the launch of two new datacenters in Asia Pacific – one in Sydney and one in Tokyo.

Since then, Equinix has made significant acquisitions. One of them was Bit-Isle in Japan and it doubled our footprint in the country, as well as significantly boosting our presence in Asia-Pacific.

By providing additional capacity in the coming year, Equinix will continue to play a central role in advancing the digital economy in the interconnected era. It’s an era in which businesses are demanding increasing levels of interconnection to accelerate business performance.

More than anything else, winning three such prestigious awards is compelling third-party proof that Equinix has what it takes to meet those demands – here in Asia and across the globe.
