Earlier this year we announced our expansion into a whole new market – South Korea, one of the world’s most vibrant digital economies – to address growing demand. Today, we are thrilled to share that our first International Business ExchangeTM (IBX®) data center in Seoul – SL1 – is now open for business!
With the launch of the 4th Industrial Revolution Response Plan, South Korea will be rolling out a series of critical next-generation infrastructure, including the establishment of a national 5G network and creation of new industries in areas of blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
These technological advancements are expected to not only support economic progress and societal development, but also to foster the growth of a data-driven economy. The accelerating growth of data usage will inevitably create greater demand for private and secure interconnection between users and service providers.
Located near Seoul’s central business district in the area of Sangam-dong, also known as Digital Media City, SL1 is designed to help both domestic and international businesses to accelerate their digital transformation and hybrid multicloud adoption. This state-of-the-art facility offers a wide range of interconnection solutions as well as direct access to the world’s leading network service and cloud providers, addressing the demand for carrier-neutral, network-dense data center services from global and local companies in South Korea as they seek to seize opportunities in the digital and cloud-first era.
