Connecting for Change, with Equinix PrideConnect

This summer marks the 50th anniversary of Pride in many countries around the world. While Pride is known as a celebration of love, its roots are in resistance to institutionalized ignorance and violence against the LGBTQ+ community.

For Equinix, this summer also marks the one-year anniversary of PrideConnect, our connection network for our LGBTQ+ employees and allies.

We built PrideConnect as a community for empowering diversity and cultivating a culture of allyship.  This is all part of Equinix’s commitment to creating a workplace culture where all employees can confidently say: “I’m safe, I belong, and I matter”.

Our efforts in PrideConnect have been focused on becoming a leading global employer for the LGBTQ+ community. All the while, our vibrant PrideConnect community is comprised of people who generously bring their whole selves to work – their passions, race, ethnicity, faith, traumas and triumphs.

Recent events have brought broadened visibility into centuries of racial injustice and highlighted the magnified discrimination felt by members of multiple marginalized groups. To all who have felt injustice, discrimination, marginalization, hate and violence, and to those who feel grief and empathy for others:

We stand with you. Black Lives Matter.

In honor of Pride, we have designed an opportunity for all Equinix employees to unite together through twenty-four hours of conversations about difference, inequality and making change. We will co-sponsor these conversations with all other Equinix Employee Connection Networks (EECNs) as allies in our shared humanity.

While we are proud of PrideConnect’s progress and impact, we know we have a long way to go in support of LGBTQ+ advancement at Equinix and human rights around the world.

It is our hope that through dialogue and action, all of us can stand as allies for one another, distantly hand-in-hand, and be a small part of building a world with unequivocally equal human rights – where love and understanding triumph over hate and indifference.
