Equinix commends the Trump Administration for releasing “Winning the AI Race: America’s AI Action Plan” and for issuing the accompanying Executive Order on “Accelerating Federal Permitting of Data Center Infrastructure.” This important framework directs numerous executive activities which will help ensure the United States maintains leadership in artificial intelligence, a critical national and economic security imperative.
The Administration’s plan recognizes that winning the AI race cannot happen without enabling the U.S. data center industry to meet robust AI driven demand and we greatly appreciate seeing many of our policy recommendations reflected in the plan. In particular, we applaud the focus on speeding permitting, bolstering the grid, unlocking energy, addressing supply chain shortages, and ensuring the nation’s workforce is ready to meet the challenge of building and operating the AI infrastructure of tomorrow, including data centers and power infrastructure.
While this plan represents a critical step forward, more work remains. We urge Congress and the Administration to work together to pass durable permitting reform and expand energy access, including by addressing transmission shortfalls. Equinix looks forward to continuing to work with the Trump Administration and with Congress on policies which will ensure the U.S. maintains leadership in AI.
