While Equinix has a remarkable track record of innovation, customer-centricity, operational excellence and 63 consecutive quarters of growth, we – like any company with ambition in a disruptive age – will need to continuously strive to evolve.
The transition from the military to the civilian workforce can be daunting and difficult. Research indicates veterans in the civilian workforce often feel underutilized, out of sorts and searching for inspiration. These and many other problems can be overcome, but it takes awareness and effort by both the veteran and employer.
As we move forward, I want to further extend the Magic of Equinix to our customers, helping them solve their evolving challenges in an ever-changing world. By keeping customers at the center of everything we do, we can leverage our global reach, scaled ecosystems, leading interconnection portfolio and track record of operational excellence to enable our customers to reach everywhere, interconnect everyone and integrate everything needed to succeed in this digital era.
The annual release of our Corporate Sustainability Report provides a transparent look at the ways Equinix is reducing our environmental impact and improving the lives of those around us in our key focus areas: environment, people, governance and community. It also details why we’re doing it.
Without world-class data centers, Equinix wouldn’t have been much more than a cool idea. Our data centers set the standard on five continents, and they’re part of an ever-expanding footprint that’s shaping the future of the digital world. As the head of global operations for Equinix, I can tell you none of that is an accident. It’s about passion, diligence and design – right down to the blue light on our colocation floor. It’s also about knowing as we build on our success that we can’t take the lessons of the past or the rewards of the future for granted.
As encouraged as we are by the growth of the channel program, the high caliber of trusted channel relationships we are talking about don’t develop overnight. Becoming a channel company is not about launching a few initiatives and occasionally checking in on how things are going, it’s a commitment from Equinix to change our DNA.
The careful global expansion we’ve undertaken for two decades is about being where our customers are taking their businesses. The products and services we introduce, from the Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric™to Equinix SmartKey™, are a direct response to what customers tell us they need. And when we think about the future, we’re not aiming to just keep up with our customers’ ambitions, we want to stay several steps ahead.
Last Thursday, Equinix held global 20th Anniversary celebrations all around the globe. This was a big day for the company, and we felt it was important to take some time to appreciate the milestone before getting back to business.
Today, Equinix is celebrating its 20th anniversary. A lot about the company I was introduced to years ago has changed, as we’ve expanded from about two to 200 data centers. But the founding vision has endured and still drives us all these years later. Companies needed interconnection then, and they needed it badly. That’s still true today, maybe more than ever.
The flow and exchange of data is shaping the global economy. While constraints, geographic, financial or otherwise, may once have prevented companies from expanding into lucrative new markets, rapid technological development is enabling companies in every sector to be more agile, and bring their products and services to market more quickly than ever before.
